Many doctors i know only use their pdas to refer to drug and disease data or make dosage calculations. In other words, the pda is simply a hi-tech, highly-priced document viewer and souped-up calculator .
Do many doctors use pdas for data input? Like entering patient records? The stylus is a slow text input device, but i'm uncertain about the thumb-keyborards found on certain pdas(like the treo 650)?
To Palmdoc (and anyone else of course!): Does the thumb keyboard on the treo 650 make it more useful in the medical setiing?
(oh and btw, how good is the camera on the 650? and is the screen adequate for viewing palm versions of medical textbooks?) |

If u take a look at the PalmAddict website, there are many photos taken using the Treo650, and most of them are of high qualities! :)

There is a video clip of students in NYU Medical School using their Palm TX as a great tool in college. They mainly emphasise on the use of Unbound Medicine and Eponyms; but it's an idea for any newbies who are looking for a PDA for medical school use. So do take a look at how Palm TX can be a great companion.

I wish I had a PDA back in medical school though... ;)

i was thinking of buying a PDA phone. the new Tytn II grabbed my attention. but what i wanna know is, which is a better choice for a medical student / doctor, is it a Palm (Palm OS based) or a Windows mobile based PDA phone?

Yeah, the Tytn II is feature rich but I suspect you'll hate the sliding keyboard in time WM6 is an improvemement but IMO it's still not quite there as an efficient PIM for PDAs. If you don't need 3G/HSPDA then the Treo 680 is the far better bang for the buck FYI the Merdeka Treo 680 Promotion is still on and a Jabra Bluetooth Headset is now thrown in to sweeten the deal http://medicine.com.my/wp/?p=2688 http://medicine.com.my/wp/?p=2532 |

hello. im a 1st year medical student and i found that i use the dictionary a lot for terms that i sometimes forget. im thinking of getting a phone..but im torn between getting myself a pda phone and a smartphone. im leaning more towards smartphones because they look better and perform better for the entertainment part. basically i want a very good camera and i want medical dictionaries and mnemonics to help me with my studies.
any ideas?
ps: i want something that looks nice.. |

| You might want to wait for the Palm Centro due out in Malaysia 1-2 month's time... |

PDAs for DATA input, honestly, they are worthwhile as long as your eyes are able, once 40s sets in,with screen size of 2.2 to 2.4 ,3.0 too included, fonts become a soar to be appreciated. Stronly,i would suggest as UMPCs are affordable, get any with at least 7 inches diag as data input gadget.
Cheers
