The leaders say 34 hours is part of the job, don't whine. Doctor's can work 34 hours, but would any of our leaders agree to be operated on by a doctor on his 33rd hour on call? Quantity compromises quality. The leaders say don't be a doctor if you can't work 34 hours non stop, of course they wouldn't say we understand the doctor's diffculty and will work hard to allow them better hours so that patients will get better care. Even labourers have a limit on amount of maximum hours of work per week. In europe they are trying not to prolong calls beyond 12 hours. The malaysian doctor has always been diligent in his/ her work - usually no time for politicking and demonstrating. So they are taken for granted, and 'bullied'. If u see the taxi drivers, fishermen etc.. the leaders are more careful, as these people will demonstrate if their rights are infringed.More empathy from the leaders for the professionals who care for nation's health would be the right thing to do... |
